Compliance Corner

In August of 2008, the Commission expanded its partnership with the Greater Lexington Apartment Association and began Compliance Corner.  In every edition of Your Home and Mine, I will address a fair housing question posed by individuals within the apartment rental community.  I envision Compliance Corner to be fair housing’s version of Dear Abby. 

To give you some background, I am currently the Compliance Director with the Lexington Human Rights Commission and have served in this capacity since July of 2007.  I began my employment with the Commission in 1997 as an investigator.  As Compliance Director, I am responsible of the supervision and training of compliance staff, conducting workshops on discrimination issues, supervising the case management system and liaison with federal agencies regarding contract compliance.  I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky where I received a BA in English and minor in Communications.  I have investigated countless housing discrimination complaints, have conducted trainings in housing discrimination and I am also a graduate of the National Fair Housing Training Academy.  I reside in Georgetown with my wife, Jennifer and children Hayley, Ethan and Ryan. 

We decided that it was important for everyone to have a means of submitting questions regarding fair housing issues and added this feature to our web site.  If you have fair housing questions, I strongly encourage you to submit them to me.  All questions will be answered.  Some may be published on the web site or in Your Home and Mine.  My hope is for people to feel comfortable in asking questions and I pledge not to reveal the identity of individuals submitting questions.
