Becoming a Member of the Speakers Bureau

On behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission, I’d like to thank you for your interest in the Speakers Bureau.  Below is a description of the criteria that must be met in order for your presentation to be considered.

In addition, the following basic criteria must be met:

  • It is important that all presentations be informative and engaging and well-presented.

  • No presentation should conflict with the charge of the Human Rights Commission.

  • Content should be relevant to Lexington and surrounding areas.

  • Presentations must not advocate for one protected group at the expense of another.

  • Presenters must provide evaluative feedback to the Human Rights Commission on presentations made as a result being listed as a resource with the Speakers Bureau.

  • Presenters must demonstrate the ability to present effectively.

  • Presenters must demonstrate expertise in their topical area(s).

If you believe you can meet or exceed these expectations, then please provide us with the following information in the format requested.

1)      Application

a.      Contact information

b.      Title of topic(s) and a detailed description that accurately describes the presentation(s) you would like us to consider.

2)      Summary of credentials/biographical information/resume.

3)      Evaluation summaries from previous speaking engagements, both public and private.

PLEASE NOTE: It is very important that you provide ALL the aforementioned information requested and that it be in the format requested. Due to the number of presentation applications we receive, any application that is not complete or is not in the requested format will be discarded. If for any reason, you cannot fulfill these informational requests, please explain why in detail when submitting your application. We may request additional information after the advisory committee has reviewed your application and accompanying information.
