Preliminary Information Needed - Public Accommodations

Generally, you will be asked to provide evidence which establishes a legal basis for filing a complaint.  This is called a prima facie case.  Examples of the evidence necessary for the most frequent public accommodation cases follow.

CP = Charging Party          R = Respondent

Prima facie case:

  1. CP is a member of a protected class
  2. CP was denied the full and equal enjoyment of R's services, goods or facilities
  3. Members outside of CP's class were not treated in the same or similar manner
