Stop the Hate Vigil

On November 5, 2022 the Human Rights Commission teamed up with the National Conference for Community and Justice - Bluegrass Region to organize the Lexington Interfaith Vigil Against Hate Violence titled "Stop the Hate: Unify Our Community." Over 20 community organizations were involved and over 200 people attended to speak out and raise their voices against hate violence.

The Stop the Hate Vigil was organized to raise awareness and to remember victims of violence and to address the most common source of prejudice and hate: fear.

The vigil was part of the national campaign of the Interfaith Alliance as a call for people of faith to:

act nonviolently as agents of healing in their communities;
stand up to hate violence directed at anyone;
speak out when people are attacked due to their race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, gender or disability;
raise united voice against hate violence.
