Keynote Speaker: Rev. C. B. Akins

The Rev. C.B. Akins has been the Pastor of First Baptist Church Bracktown in Lexington since February of 1983. Under his leadership, the Church has grown from 160 members to over 600 active members. Rev. Akins is a native of Bath Springs, Tennessee. He graduated from high school in Carrier Mills, Illinois. He attended Paducah Community College and graduated from the University of Kentucky with honors. He also holds a Masters Degree in Divinity, a Doctor of Ministry Degree and Doctoral Degree from Lexington Theological Seminary.

While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Rev. Akins became fluent in several languages including: German, Czechoslovakian, French, Chinese Mandarin, Greek, and Hebrew.

Rev. Akins is affiliated with various organizations including the National Baptist Convention, the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky, and the Consolidated District Association. He serves the community in various capacities including: The Governor’s Advisory Council for Volunteers in KY;The Bluegrass International Affairs Council; Special consultant to the University of KY Football Team and Athletic Department and is currently the Chaplin for the UK Basketball team; The UK President’s Commission on Diversity; and as a member of the African American Education Coalition, a grassroots organization dedicated to improving the educational opportunities of African American children’s education in our public schools. He is also a writer having written a book entitled “Burden to Blessing”, a history of his Church.

He is in demand as a speaker for conferences and revivals across the country, and has become a featured guest speaker and teacher with the Franklin Braham Ministries of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

He is married to the former Ms. Roszalyn Mack and father of three children, a son and two daughters.
